Iran's government spokesperson Ali Rabiei warned the US of an "appropriate response" to possible Washington's moves against Tehran's released oil taker in his exclusive interview to Ruptly, in Tehran on Monday.

"We will carefully follow and review the US' behavior, the illegal US' policies. Moreover, if the US wants to make its threat practical, we will make an appropriate decision and give an appropriate response to that threat," said Rabiei.

He added that Gibraltar's court decision to release the tanker signals the decreasing effect of the US "bullying" of other countries, adding that it might even lead to country's isolation.

Iranian oil tanker Grace 1 changed its name to Adrian Darya-1 and left Gibraltar waters on Sunday, reportedly heading to Greece. The vessel which was previously Panama-flagged had been seized by UK marines on July 4 on suspicions of violating EU sanctions by delivering oil to Syria. Last week the tanker was released after a Gibraltar court lifted the detention order. The US made a last moment legal attempt to hold the ship but its request was rejected.
