Sikhs Unite To Help Kashmiri Women Get Home Safely

Sikhs Unite To Help Kashmiri Women Get Home Safely Sikh men from Pune helped 32 women students from Kashmir safely reach their homes in the Valley after they lost contact with their families due to the lockdown in the state following Article 370’s removal. These young women are studying nursing in Pune. Their mentor circulated a WhatsApp message which reached one of these Sikh men. Like-minded members of the community along with the Pune Sikh Gurudwara Committee then booked the women on a flight to Delhi on August 3.
In Delhi, the Delhi Gurudwara Committee took over and ensured their safe departure to Srinagar.
A few sewadars from Delhi accompanied the women and personally made sure each student reached home safely. Most of these individuals run small businesses in Delhi, Punjab and Pune.
They raised 4 lakh rupees to ensure the women’s safe passage to their respective villages in Kashmir.
