Series: Good vs Evil - Spirit Battle
I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. Rom 7:15
We cannot win the spiritual battle with mental and physical strength.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Eph 6:12
The power of the dark side is deception and accusation.
But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. 4 You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed. 2 Cor 11:3-4
How To Win The Spiritual Battle
In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter 5:5-6
1) Be humble – Trust God
Seek mature counsel and Serve others
2) Don’t be a worrier.
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7
• Admit you are worrying
• Pray and release it to God
• If you start worrying again do it again.
3) Beware of the devil. (Always be aware)
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
1 Pet 5:8-9
4) Know and live God’s Word.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. Eph 6:11
In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Eph 6:16
5) Remind yourself that Jesus has won.
He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
Col 2:14-15
We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. Rom 6:6-7
How about you?
