Can I Say 'Bismillah' In A Bathroom With Attached Toilet? | Shaykh Abu Eesa | Faith IQ Majority of the scholars say it is sunnah to say bismillah before you begin your wudu. In our tradition we are prohibited from speaking and specially speaking words of dhikr or praise of Allah when in toilet.

Toilet of the past is not the modern bathroom of today. It doesn't come under the ruling of toilet even when toilet is at a corner and when you are making wudu at the sink. It is permissible to say bismillah in such bathrooms. Nevertheless, if you feel difficult to do that then you can say bismillah and then enter bathroom and make wudu.
