On the evening of May 5, 2007 Mickey Ptak and I observed multiple tornadoes near the town of Belvidere, KS which is just south of Greensburg. Of course Greensburg had been devastated by a giant tornado the night before, so we had targeted south of there with the intention of staying away from the area, which was bustling with emergency response aid activity. Try as we might, our storm kept moving further and further northeast towards Greensburg but would never produce a tornado. Finally, just as we reached the northern range of how far we could go (because Greensburg was just up the road) the storm produced a trio of tornadoes back-to-back-to-back, the first two of which are seen in this video. Only afterwards did we realize that while documenting these twisters we were stopped inside the actual damage path of the giant Greensburg tornado from the night before!!!
