AIMed Australia Summit, interview onsite with Dr Anthony Chang, Cardiologist & Founder of AIMed

AIMed Australia Summit, interview onsite with Dr Anthony Chang, Cardiologist & Founder of AIMed Dr Anthony Chang spoke at our AIMed Talks podcast booth during AIMed's inaugural summit AIMed Australia 2019 in Sydney on 12-13 November - attended by clinicians, hospital leaders, data scientists and Government all with the common goal to accelerate AI adoption in Australian Healthcare.

During this conversation Dr Chang expressed how impressed he was with the engagement of the crowd today, the projects various people are working on given the geographical challenges of a big country like Australia. He commented that he has great hopes to see Australia as one of the leading countries in a medicine.
He discusses his trip to Canada prior to Australia and he feels that every country has its own issues when it comes to AI in medicine and how the US has its own issues just like China does. He comments that he doesn't think anyone is surging ahead in AI adoption in healthcare. He is certain that each country can learn from each other's countries issues and limitations, for example - a problem in Australia could easily be solved by a solution that already exists in Estonia and vice versa.

He expressed that he thinks this movement needs to be global and not just for the speed of core of people in the healthcare sector. It's necessary to share ideas and solutions. His key takeaway from the summit? It's more of a realisation that just about every country's issue is rooted in data not necessarily the A.I. apart.

He references that every country has a serious flaw in the area data and having that data be available as the foundational layer for artificial intelligence

It's the heterogeneous data that's going to be key and one of his pet projects right now is to work with some Silicon Valley tech technical experts to work on a global paediatric medical image repository that will be embedded interpretation so that any pediatric image around the world can be automatically interpreted - he comments he will not rest until that project comes to fruition.
A.I. medicine has to be an H to H phenomenon so human to human is ironically the most important asset we have as human beings to push the A.I. agenda.
