Nerdiasme had to call the rescue team ! Part V We struck ground with our sailboat.
Bringing him from my summer location to my winter location in Belgium, so I don't have to drive hundreds of kilometers every week.
This was a one time sail of 100km to Belgium from the Netherlands the Veersemeer.
To get him raised out of the water into a seat to have new antifouling and paint here and there and some restorations and fixes.
Nothing extremely difficult but still it had to be done on shore as the propeller shaft had to be replaced and the rudder had to be fixed with a brand new bearing.
Also I would check the through holes and close up a few.
But nothing went as planned after a while.
We motored out of Veerse Meer into the Eastern Schelde, no problem what so ever, some wind, some waves, but nothing major.
We raised the sail as I didn't fitted the genua and we sailed nicely 5 knots.
After the Eastern we went into the Upper Schelde or the Western Schelde where was lots of wind and high waves. As this is actual open water directly in connection with the Nord sea and act as a funnel, here
and there.
We had bad luck with the current, and first with a motor boat in a lock that had engine problems.
Now we were here in low tide and struck ground.
I called up the rescue team KNRM and the y came asap, they made us feel comfortable again and all went good.
In this episode you can see that my brother and I, fixing up the boat as good and fast as possible.
Me and my brother hung a new second hand outboard engine on the back of the boat, drilled holes and fixed it in place.
Also we made the engine technical feasable again .... impeller and impeller housing + gearbox oil and such !
A,d tested this all at a friends (Yves) place...
This part is going about, me and my brother bringing the boat to the marina near Antwerp, linkeroever ...
Here we are protected against current, most wind and waves.
First at Brabo, right in the seaharbor we still had to prepare some more to go on the small trip.
It's a small trip only a dozen of miles, but still it's excited, because the history and poor state of the boat !
I also took everything out of the boat for the trip, like all the tools, most materials and allot of electronica.
After all this it was a very pleasant trip, nice and calm, just a couple of seaships and inland workships, nothing major and allot of water taxies lol
We ended up at the harbor next to the royal harbor club in Antwerpen and waited out a small hour for the lock to open up so we could go into our slip.

Also the rudder pole is leaking, more then it used to, allot more !
I knew it was leaky, that was a big reason, the boat was cheap and had to be taken out of the water.
I do have the replacement parts to fix it, that's not the point, we still had to do a couple of miles !
All was calm, very little wind, no waves and the AIS showed only 1 moving ship.
A big one, but it was moving very slow into or out of there slip with 3 or 4 pusher along side.
We planned in a flash to leave, all signs seemed great !
Started motoring, no plans on raising the sails now, the first thing to do, crossing the Schelde almost straight on, so we got on the right side of the river as soon as possible.
It was upcomming tide, so we were gonna fly...wich we did btw !
