UNEP says emissions must be cut by 7.6 percent each year to meet the Paris target

The United Nations is warning of catastrophic levels of global warming unless much more action is taken right now. It says global emissions must be cut by more than 7.5 percent each year for the next decade if the world is to avoid warming by more than 1.5°C. In its annual report, the UN Environment ProgrammE says that even if all current unconditional commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement are implemented, global temperatures are expected to rise by 3.2°C.
