My Answers To The 12 Most Asked Questions About Simulation Theory (2020) Finally! My Answers To The 12 Most Asked Questions About Simulation Theory. In this video I list a dozen simulation theory questions that everyone interested in the subject asks. Questions like what is simulation theory? Is reality a simulation? Who first proposed simulation theory? And what is the simulation argument?

Welcome to Open Your Reality. Here are my answers to the 12 most commonly asked questions about simulation theory. I see these same questions come up again and again in the comment section, so I thought, why not put them all together in one video and make it sort of a podcast style at that. Alright, without further banter, are you ready to take the red pill and dive deep into some simulation argument philosophy? There are 12 questions and at any time in the video, feel free to drop me a comment if you have questions. I’ll do my best to answer everyone.

1. What is simulation theory?
The simulation hypothesis or simulation theory proposes that all of reality, including the Earth and the entire universe, are in fact an artificial simulation and most likely a computer simulation. And for those who are spiritual and believe in other dimensions, universes and realities, those too are part of the same simulation.
So in this sense all of reality is computed and everything that ever happens is recorded in that computer. Even our consciousness is computer generated. Yup, I know it sounds a bit of a downer, but cheer up, because as long as the simulation is being generated your consciousness is just about immortal. By the way, Tom Campbell, one of the forerunners of the simulation argument, calls the entire computer simulating our reality the LCS or larger consciousness system. So if I mention LCS later in the video, you’ll know what I mean.

2. Who first proposed simulation theory?

If you want to go way back to the beginning you could say it was Buddha. He used his consciousness to search through the universe and realized it was just an illusion. Of course he didn’t actually know what a simulation was, so he used different language.
In the modern era of Western civilization, a version of the simulation hypothesis was first theorised as part of a philosophical argument on the part of René Descartes the famous French philosopher from the 1600s – and then later in the late 1980s by the futurist Hans Moravec. The philosopher Nick Bostrom further expanded on the argument in 2003 examining the probability of reality being a simulation. In the same year, Tom Campbell wrote my Big Toe, which offers a very detailed and poignant explanation of simulation theory.

3. How likely is it that we actually live in a simulated universe?
The answer to this question depends on who you ask. Of course, people on the street will have all different opinions. But what do the experts who study our universe think? A generation ago, only a handful of scientists thought it possible. But now, I would estimate that at least 30-35% of scientists involved in studying the nature of reality entertain it as a real possibility. Nick Bostrom believes there is less than a 50% chance of our reality being a simulation. David Chalmers, a popular philosopher in the field of reality puts the percentage at around 20%. Elon Musk believes with 100% certainty we are in a simulation and so does Tom Campbell, Rizwan Kirk and Jim Elvidge. I am in agreement with them.

4. What is simulating our universe? Can we go outside of the simulation?

This is a great question but unfortunately one we can never know. It’s like the characters in a video game wanting to know the nature of the game console that created them. The virtual world and what’s outside of it are two different things. For that reason, we will probably never know what kind of computer is simulating our reality and what’s outside of it. It’s human nature to not want to live in uncertainty, so we make ourselves feel better by saying it’s God.
