News : 2020 KIA Optima  Hybrid & PHEV l New standard technology features The 2020 Kia Optima remains largely the same as the 2019 version and gets a few updates to trims. Back in 2019, Kia gave the Optima a light refresh that included adding features like leather seating on the SX line, additional advanced driver assistance aids, and an updated UVO infotainment system.

On the EX and SX trims, the 2020 Optima gets standard smartphone wireless charging. On LX and S trims, the Optima gets enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance-Assistance which includes pedestrian detection. The EX Premium trim, which was formerly only an option package, is now a separate trim altogether, increasing the trim line up to six varieties over last year’s four.

Hybrid model features a 2 liter GDI 4 cylinder engine delivering 154 hp and 140 lb.- ft of torque and a Interior-Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor delivering 50 hp and 151.2 lb.- ft of torque. Hybrid System Performance Combined is rated at 192 hp and 271 lb.- ft of torque.


Plug in Hybrid model features the same 4 cylinder engine with a more potent electric motor, delivering 67 hp and 151 lb.- ft of torque. Hybrid System Performance Combined is rated at 202 hp and 276 lb.- ft of torque.

Hybrids make use of an inline-4 paired with batteries and an electric motor fuel economy ratings in the 40-mpg range, and the plug-in hybrid version can go nearly 30 miles on electricity alone.

No matter what’s underhood, the Optima provides a comfortable, spacious cabin with an average-size 15.9 cubic-foot trunk and materials that range from serviceable to relatively upmarket as the price climbs.
