Jayant Narlikar has Written a wonderful science- fiction whereby we see the existence of a parallel world where one course of event in history had altered the whole of it. The results which are visible owing to that change and the explanation offered by Professor Gaitonde. But before we go deeper into the story we need to understand a little science which been incorporated in it.
 Firstly the Heisenberg’s theory of uncertainty. Earlier it was believed that an electron has a fix path in an atom and its next position could be predicted but Heisenberg believed that no one can predict with certainty as to where the electron would be at a certain point of time. This lack of determinism in quantum theory is the basis of this chapter.
