Their identities have now been revealed as Prince Harry’s closest childhood mentors. The Sunday Times claimed Tiggy Pettifer, Harry and William’s much-loved former nanny, and Mark Dyer, Harry’s minder, were asked by Meghan and Harry to be their newborn’s godparents. Both played key roles in bringing up Harry and his brother after the death of their mother Diana, Princess of Wales. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle never publicly revealed their choices, another of the many breaks in royal tradition exhibited by the couple.
They are now quitting their official duties, stepping back as senior member of the royal family and uprooting to Canada.
It will mean Archie will not have much contact with Mr Dyer and Ms Pettifer as Harry did during his childhood.
The Queen has reportedly barely seen her eight-month-old great-grandson since his birth in May.
Ms Pettifer cared for Diana and Charles’ sons from 1993 to 1999, she became a mother figure to them after Diana’s death in 1997.
She remains close to both Harry and William, who are godfathers to her own sons Fred and Tom.
