How do you clean something that processes millions of gallons of foul water?
A sewage treatment plant in the east of London handles the plumbing for over 3 million people. Items such as wet wipes, plastics, and sanitary towels are too often flushed down through London’s Victorian-era sewage network which is not designed to handle them. Nor is it supposed to. When these items arrive in the sewage flow they instantly build-up on the treatment plant machinery and need to be removed.
So whose job is it to clean the waste within the waste? Engineer Bob is the lucky guy. Without people like Bob, who knows what London’s fresh water supply would look like. Well done Bob, please don’t stop doing what you’re doing!
