On this episode we take a look at a very interesting new offering from Marc of Long Island Watch fame. The Islander line has essentially been classic Seiko designs upgraded in spec and material to be more competitive in the modern market. The pre-made Seiko mods are basically everything you love about those classic designs, just taken to the next level. The Islander 38 pays homage to Seiko's SKX013, the smaller brother to the famed SKX007. At a glance, many familiar with the Seiko Mod community would call it a PMMM mod or Poor Mans Marine Master mod, the good news here is, you don't have to source any parts or do any guess work. Marc has basically worked out a pretty winning formula that deliver on an OEM+ aesthetic for a near OEM-like price, which I applaud.
