‘An ABC that big and biased is a menace to democracy’: Bolt The "judgements" ABC journalists make wouldn’t be made if they moved out of the inner-city bubble and "lived among their fellow citizens", The Australian's Gerard Henderson says.

After ABC Chairperson Ita Buttrose asked the government for more money, Communications Minister Paul Fletcher suggested it move out of the inner city in Melbourne and Sydney and move to locations like Parramatta.

Mr Henderson told Sky News host Andrew Bolt the ABC’s insistence on being based in the inner city “partly explains what is termed the bubble”.

“A lot of these people don’t meet the kind of people who live in the suburbs or regional towns,” he said.

Mr Bolt added an “ABC that big and biased is a menace to democracy, stifling debate, putting rivals out of work”.
