Foot forces in running

Foot forces in running With every step of a run, the feet repeatedly push on the ground with a force more than twice the bodyweight. When the front of the foot is loaded in this way, the foot maintains it's shape because of its stiffness. The dots attached to this runner's foot show how the foot slightly bends when it is pushing on the ground.
