#6 Saltwater Crocodile
Of all living reptiles, this beast is the largest. And it also takes the crown for being the world’s largest terrestrial predator. As the most broadly distributed modern croc, they’re found from the east coast of India to northern Australia. Adult male specimens can reach lengths over 20 feet (6.1 m) and weigh over 2,500 pounds (1,134 kg). Even with that size, they can move with surprising speed. And since they’re fearless enough to take on sharks, they’d have no reservations about coming after us. In fact, many sources consider salties to pose the greatest threat to humans of any extant crocodilian species.

#5 Geographic Cone
Cone snails are predatory sea snail that can display shells with beautiful colors and patterns. But they’re also venomous and use a harpoon-like structure in their proboscis (pruh-BOS-is) to deliver their toxin. The Geography Cone has been singles out due to the lethality of its venom. It can produce severe paralysis and has been linked to thirty known fatalities. This species has the most venomous sting of any cone snail by far. According to some estimates, this might be the world’s most venomous animal. They’re indigenous to reefs off Australia.

#4 Sea Wasp
That’s the common name for an extremely venomous species of box jellyfish that is found in the coastal waters of northern Australia. With more than 60 known deaths attributed to it, this deadly creature has been called the “most lethal jellyfish in the world”. Growing some 10 feet long (3 m), their bodies are covered with millions of explosive cells. Upon contact, they release tiny darts that carry an exceptionally strong venom. A sting can result in excruciating pain. But if the sting area is especially large, an untreated victim can die within five minutes! Just one of these animals is said to carry enough of the toxin to take out 60 adult humans.

#3 Eastern Brown Snake
We’ve mentioned the Inland Taipan and the Coastal Taipan previously, and they are ranked as the world’s first and third most venomous land snakes respectively. This species, the Eastern Brown Snake, ranks at number two. This reptile is found throughout a wide range of Oz, and can become aggressive if provoked. Its bite can deliver a venom that’s powerful enough to cause paralysis and cardiac arrest. Did you know that this reptile accounts for about 60 percent of all snakebite deaths recorded in Oz?

#2 Irukandji Jellyfish
Venom from this tiny jelly can induce any number of painful symptoms, including fatal brain hemorrhages. There can even be a psychological response called the Irukandji Syndrome, where victims experience an overwhelming sense of doom. Measuring a mere cubic centimeter, it’s the smallest jellyfish in the world. And one of the most deadly when they fire stingers from the tips of their tentacles to inject venom. Experts say that their toxin is about 100 times more potent than a cobra’s, and can induce fatal brain hemorrhages.
