A New Mexico jury has awarded a family $40 Million dollars from an accident involving a Werner Enterprises truck. The Werner Trucking truck was being driven by a new driver who had a driver trainer in the truck. The Werner Trucking truck crossed the road and hit a car head on, killing the driver of the car. The family contends that Werner Trucking School did not properly train the student and that Werner Enterprises negligently allowed the student driver to drive while the so called trainer slept. This is because they were on a just in time load which required team service and Werner Trucking knew that because they are the ones that dispatched the load. It is sad that people have to die so these mega carriers can fill their pockets. There is no excuse for this. The Werner Enterprise pay is also low, cited as $500 a week for over 60 hours. Not great. Companies that do this should be closed and I can't wait for that day to come. New CDL drivers, be very careful. If you are wanting to know how to get a CDL for free, this may not be the way to go. This is another of those Werner Enterprises truck accidents.
