Exploring the Newest Section of Mumbai Local Trains - THE URAN LINE - Journey Coverage

Exploring the Newest Section of Mumbai Local Trains - THE URAN LINE - Journey Coverage Today I decided to do something that was pending on my list for a long time. Travel on the new section of the Uran Railway line in Navi Mumbai. Technically it is not new anymore, phase 1 of the railway line was inaugurated in November 2018, so it is more than a year now. However I finally got a chance to explore the section. Phase 1 is the part between Nerul / Belapur and Kharkopar. I boarded the 02:45 pm local train (Siemens EMU) from Nerul to Kharkopar. The tracks run along with the regular Harbour Line till the next station Seawoods Darave, and then split up. Another arm of the triangle comes from Belapur and joins near a relay room, just before a very long bridge that goes over Palm Beach Road and then curves and crosses the Panvel Creek. After the bridge there is a sharp curve and then comes Targhar station which is still under construction, so the trains pass without stopping. The first halt on the new line is Bamandongri, and soon after that comes the current terminus - Kharkopar. All these stations are designed well with easy access and double discharge platforms. I waited at Kharkopar, took a few photos, and then took the same train running back to Nerul as the 03:15 pm local. I recorded the entire 15 minutes journey from Kharkopar to Nerul and have included that in the above video. I cut out the times when the train was halting at stations, since I had to get off to let other people get off and on. Hope you enjoy the coverage of my first visit to the newest section of Mumbai local trains.
