It strikes me as ironic that Agent Koback would think that Nichol Kessinger didn't have to worry about her infamy growing as popular as that crime. Nikki, however, could predict that the public would latch on to this case and it would grow immensely.
Did Nikki change her name and appearance? What does she look like now? Which name did she choose?
Back on August 23, 2018, the social media world was already buzzing about the name Nichol Kessinger. Could they have guessed that plenty of books, documentaries, and a Lifetime movie would appear more than one year later?
On November 15, 2018, Nichol Kessinger tried to do damage control by giving an exclusive interview to the Denver Post. “He lied about everything,” said Nichol Kessinger on Nov. 15, 2018.
“When I read the news, I found out he was still married and his wife was 15 weeks pregnant,” Kessinger said.

Or seek advice from--I don't even know who you call. Honestly, but, people change their name all the time when they get married. Uh, so it's probably the county clerk.
But it's gonna I think it would have to be at a state level to make a name change. But I don't know specifically how to do that. I don't.
N: Does that like become public because that would defeat the purpose?
K: I don't know. I know it can be done. I just don't know how to do it. And I wouldn't even know who to reach out--I mean I could find out and let you know. But I don't know how to do it. Um...you know like the witness protection thing is very very rare.
N: I'm not expecting that. (K: Yes) I--he's not going anywhere.
K: He's not gonna hurt you, all those things. So--
N: I'm not expecting that. I don't even know. Like sometimes I'm like I just want to do it now. I'm like, why? Because if they--
K: But if you go to another state--
N: It would defeat the purpose if you know. A part of me I keep getting really scared that it's going to be really hard to find good employment for like a really long time. Like years and years and years of my life. I feel like people aren't gonna want to hire me.
K: If you go to another state this is not headlines in that state. You realize that?
N: I mean, I-I-yeah. I do.
K: And if I do a background on you, you're a good employee. It doesn't come up that you dated Chris Watts. And you're involved in this case. It doesn't work that way. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.
N: But I mean I don't know. I just feel like this is one of those things that if it goes to court it's gonna be like huge.
K: Well, I mean it's national right now but it's not like--you know it's not the theater event that happened in Aurora 7 years ago, right? That everybody in the world knew about. It's not that.
So I--certainly for you you're under the microscope and you're feeling it. And nothing anybody can say can change that for you. So I get it but I don't--I think you need to just step back for a minute.
Take a breath. Figure out what you're gonna do. Obviously you have some serious--very serious decisions to make over the next--you know--couple months.
