A Delta Airlines Boeing 777-200 (N860DA) performing flight DAL89 from Los Angeles KLAX to Shanghai Pudong ZSPD was climbing out of Los Angeles when the crew stopped the climb at 8000 feet reporting right hand engine compressor stalls. The crew subsequently advised they had brought the engine back under control, just needed to slow down and requested to land on runway 25R. Pilots said they didn't need to dump any fuel. The aircraft was vectored for an ILS approach to runway 25R for a safe landing.
