You can do it (within reason)

You can do it (within reason) Much of this hinges on one's belief in oneself.

There are lazy intelligent people who achieve much less in life than structured people with half of their capacity. Yet many of those try to attribute their success to the uniqueness of their intellect, at least in conversation. But often times I talk to a person who obviously is no captain yet likes to attribute noble qualities to their person and justifies their success with it.

Much of this has to do with how one thinks of oneself. If they think themselves competent or if the environment thinks them smart, they are more inclined to be competent as it 'feels natural' to them. Often times may real intellect be irrelevant, subject to one's social standing and contacts.

If someone in your life thinks of you as a tenth-grade fool you may be demotivated to pursue anything as you'd see no point in competing with the obviously better competition. But the issue is, this person may not be a fit judge and to my mind, barely anybody is. So for that reason, I think everyone should only accept positive appraisal of their person and reject anything negative, as the other person most likely is no renowned psychologist to make that call.

In effect, all is in our minds, so why not try to make most of our brain power. Just because someone thinks you're bound to fail, their claim stands and falls with their own capacity which needn't be anyhow impressive.

Lastly, being number one and being good aren't the same things. One needn't be the best to think themselves competent. In my view, as long as you manage to move from one point to another by the accord of your own, you're a success.

You have a view of your own. And who is anybody to tell you otherwise?
