How far is the game already?
The main game is pretty much done (just some minor tweeking of values). Now it is time for me to make some contextual minigames that make the whole game a round affair because they are a background theme to my game. This one is themed around bargaining. The player cannot change the inevitable but needs to make the best of his current situation.
In my prototype I faced a few isses, which mean the player has to adapt and the learning curve was too big for a minigame. I had to reduce the complexity to a minimum and kicked out troops, cunstruction units and other features that bloated that minigame. The other issue was how to defend from the zombie hordes and that I thought needed to be done with defensive structures like turrents. But here I combined the money making houses with the ability (once they are conquered) to be a defensive structure aswell. This little simplification made the game easier to access because you only need to take care of which buildings to conquer by clicking on them and defending you main base of operation.
So what you see here, that sometimes less is a better idea.
Once the full game is ready and tested I will first release it on itch.io and make a video how you can sell you game on that platform. After that I will release it again on steam and make another tutorial on that aswell. After let's say a week, I will present you guys how well (or bad) the sales and numbers totally are. This is meant so you can actually see how a regular indie developer is doing in a higly competitive environment like itch.io or steam.
