The German government has a "so-called pandemic plan" it can follow in case of a coronavirus outbreak, said spokesperson for German Federal Ministry of the Interior, Steve Alter, in Berlin on Wednesday.
"Authorities have a so-called pandemic plan, and different levels can be called upon if necessary, so we are currently operating normally. Overall, we are just taking precautionary measures," he stressed.
Alter added that government employees have the same recommendations as the general public regarding safeguarding their health and are advised to work remotely or take sick leaves if necessary.
The German government also set up a fund to aid businesses and individuals with liquidity issues caused by the virus disrupting their supply chain.
"Should it now come to greater liquidity problems, we would be prepared to increase these funds quickly and flexibly, if necessary. I say again, it's currently not an emergency," said spokesperson for German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs, Beate Baron.
According to the latest reports, at least 94,200 people have been infected by the COVID-19 so far and over 3,200 people have died. There are currently 244 cases confirmed in Germany.
