How to Position Your Brand in the Marketplace (Part 2) | #Zadvice with Daniel DiPiazza *THIS IS PART 2 of 2*

In their breakthrough book "Positioning: The Battle For Your Mind" — Al Ries and Jack Trout made a simple, powerful observation...

The market is full of products that serve the same basic purpose and the human brain can only hold so many "spot" in the mind for each type of product.

For example, when you go down the condiment aisle at the grocery story, how many different types of ketchup can you think of? I can only think of Heinz and Hunts...but I know there must be 50 brands.

How many shoe brands can you think of? How many cell phone carriers? Probably only a few of each — but there are hundreds.

How do the market leaders rise to the top and stay there? Money, time and positioning.

Positioning is the art (and science) of making your brand, product or business stand out in a sea of others trying to capture the same market.

Here's part 2 of 2 on my thoughts re: positioning.
