Recycling of drugs confiscated during police operations for reselling or other illegal purposes remains rampant here in the Philippines. That admission-- coming from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Chief Aaron Aquino himself during the Senate inquiry into the agency's 2020 budget.
Aquino said, several sources confirmed the unscrupulous practice among anti-narcotics agents.
He adds, from January to August this year alone, the agency has seized drugs worth roughly P10-billion, or more than $192-million. But those drugs remain in their warehouses amid the slow issuance of court orders for their destruction.
The agency now has an inventory of some P22-billion pesos, or some $423-million worth of illegal drugs.
