More than 10 percent of the stores in the city could go out of business in the next six months, according to Hong Kong Retail Management Association. A survey by the association cast a dire outlook for the city that had been a popular destination for tourists from the Chinese mainland. However, number of visitors has dropped drastically since the onset of protests almost six months ago. In October, Hong Kong's retail sales fell by almost a quarter from the figure a year earlier, the steepest drop on record.
