URA installs measures to enhance trade, security at Malaba boader

URA installs measures to enhance trade, security at Malaba boader The Uganda Revenue Authority has deployed new hi-tech baggage scanners at the Malaba and Busia border posts in a bid to enhance luggage checks at the two entry and outlet points in the country. According to James Malinz, the URA manger Eastern region, the move aims at improving trade while also enhancing security reasons, between Uganda and Kenya. The installation of the baggage scanners follows the installation of cargo scanners at the border, two years ago. The new scanners are able to check through luggage for both concealed and dangerous items that may be smuggled into the country. Security officials have previously had to physically search, which was time wasting and less efficient.#NTVNews
